Greetings...

I'm Jay and this is The GoBe Collective.  We started promoting the idea of connecting everyday in authentic ways in 2014.  This pandemic has reminded us that it is so important, now more than ever, to connect to each other.  We discovered in our community connection projects that there is amazing value in extending a greeting in unique ways.

We are doing something to help bring people together during such an extraordinary time.   We know that we can inspire wellness through creativity as well as help to connect people to their community.  We developed and implemented a program that inspired Ontario school aged children to develop greetings that we later delivered.  Some greetings delivered were "hello" to the homeless community, "welcome" to refugees, and "thank you" to volunteers.  Adults alike have since participated, and the consensus is, it feels good to connect.

With many Canadians in self-isolation, we think this is a perfect opportunity for parents to have a conversation with their children while they are at home.  Together, you can explore ways of putting thoughts and feelings into words.   We collect the greetings that your family has created and deliver them (once quarantined) to seniors in residence, people with Covid-19, and front-line health care workers in Windsor, ON and in affected areas of Canada.

If you're in the Windsor, Ontario area, and are interested in participating, please check out instructions below.  If you have any questions, please email us.

Thank you for helping us inspire connections, everyday.

Follow these simple, fun steps...

Picture

1. Select your paper

Construction paper, card stock and printer paper are acceptable.  You can bi-fold & cut paper to create (2) greetings out of one 8.5x11" paper.  Because these will be mailed in bulk, please keep material light.

2. Choose your materials

No adhesives, paint, or craft objects will be accepted when affixed to the greeting.  It must not have anything attached to the surface other than markings with pen, crayon, pencil, markers or highlighters.

3. Choose the greeting

Please select one greeting per card.  It is important to have children select one that resonates with them once they know who it is going to be delivered to:
"Hello" to Covid-19 patients
"Hello" to seniors in care homes
"Thank You" to health care workers

4. Design your greeting

Bright colours and positive images or words are best to support wellness for the person receiving the message.  We recommend that the front-side simply say the greeting selected (ie. hello or thank-you)  and the back-side can include a more personal message from the sender.  Please keep greetings delivered to us as 1 per person or 5 per household.
